Half Truths
2012

translated by Chloe Haralambous

say, for instance, as luck would have it,
you had a gas lighter that needed filling
at the corner kiosk and say, for instance,
that you went down there and, terrified,
caught the kiosk-matron’s monumental tits
crusing last century’ s Daily Worker,
forcing you to revisit your thoughts
on the Spanish civil war

would you burn up
and, if so,
would you regret it?
