Elias Petropoulos was born in Athens, in 1928. He studied Law and Political Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as Turcology in Paris (where he lived from 1975 until his death). In the course of his life, he published eighty books and one thousand articles. In addition, he published three collections of poetry: "Topor - Four Seasons" Editions Nefeli, Athens, 1991, "Poems 1968-1974 and 1982-1991", Editions Nefeli, Athens 1993, "Never and nothing" Editions Nefeli, 1993. He was the first folklorist who wrote about marginalized people. He was dealing with characters and facts scorned by conventional scientific viewpoint. Petropoulos was censored by Greek State and Justice. He died in Paris in 2003. His body was cremated and the ashes were thrown into a sewer.
